Celtic have been linked with several of Liverpool's players this summer. The interest in Caoimhin Kelleher led nowhere and the Hoops ended up signing Kasper Schmeichel to replace Joe Hart in goal. They are believed to have an eye on Owen Beck as well, and the likes of Ben Doak and Bobby Clark are also rumoured to be loan targets for the Scottish champions.

Now, a fifth Liverpool player seems to be in their sights as well. But this time around, he is a lot more experienced than the previous ones they have been linked with.

As reported by The Sun, Liverpool are still open-minded to parting with Wataru Endo and Celtic are now monitoring the player. Brendan Rodgers thinks securing the signature of the midfielder could help boost his side both domestically and in Europe.

But it is believed that a transfer fee in the region of £15 million could be required to sign Endo from Liverpool. Celtic would never shell out that sort of a figure, especially for a midfielder past 30 years of age.

Judging from the recent transfer rumours, it is hard to judge what strategy Celtic are following when it comes to their midfield. They have been linked with quite a few youngsters but then also experienced names like Endo.

It is worth pointing out that Celtic have already made an addition in the middle of the park this summer, bringing in Paulo Bernardo on a permanent basis after a promising loan spell last season. On the other hand, there is constant speculation around the future of Matt O'Riley.

One can only hope that Celtic get their recruitment right this summer. Things have been shaky in that regard over the past few seasons and the Hoops cannot afford a repeat if they want to show progress.
