Celtic closing in on deal to sign Aston Villa player
Celtic are yet to make their first signing of the summer. It is widely believed that that is going to be Kasper Schmeichel. A deal is believed to be as good as done and it is only a matter of time before the Danish number one arrives at Parkhead to reunite with Brendan Rodgers. The two worked together for several years at Leicester City.
Schmeichel is 37 years of age but has been playing as a starting goalkeeper, both at club and international level. But it looks like he is not the only addition Celtic will make between the posts this summer.
There have been suggestions that Celtic will sign a second goalkeeper after Schmeichel. That makes sense considering the uncertainty around Benjamin Siegrist's future. And it looks like a player from Aston Villa could end up in Glasgow soon.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic are closing in on a deal to sign Viljami Sinisalo. The 22-year-old is now poised to move to Parkhead on a permanent deal as the clubs discuss a fee.

Sinisalo is a highly-rated goalkeeper but Aston Villa have Emi Martinez, who might very well be the best in the world right now. So, it is no wonder that chances have been hard to come by for him.
Instead, Sinisalo spent last season on loan in League One with Exeter City. He has also managed to make a few appearances for the Finland national team already.
One would expect Schmeichel to be the number one for Celtic if both him and Sinisalo were signed by the club. But the 22-year-old is someone who has the potential to be the club's number one between the posts in the long term. Let's see how things play out.
