Celtic can sign Liverpool defender for £3 million transfer fee
Celtic have been liked with a number of Liverpool players in recent weeks. Ben Doak and Bobby Clark, two of their standout youngsters, are believed to be loan targets for the Hoops. But there is one player who has been on the Scottish club's radar for much longer, thanks to his impressive displays in the Premiership last season.
Greg Taylor has certainly improved over the course of Brendan Rodgers' second stint as Celtic manager. There needs to be some competition and cover in that left-back position though. At the moment, there is virtually none.
Owen Beck impressed while on loan at Dundee FC from Liverpool. He was linked with a January switch to Celtic as well but that did not end up materialising.
Now, it looks like Celtic have the opportunity to sign Beck on a permanent basis. And that too for a modest transfer fee, if the rumours are indeed accurate.
Celtic can sign Liverpool defender for £3 million transfer fee
As tweeted by DaveOCKOP, Celtic want to sign Beck on a permanent move but are somewhat off Liverpool's valuation. It is believed that his fee would be around £3 million. The Reds are hoping he signs deal and goes on loan. QPR and Leeds United want him on a temporary basis.
To be honest, that feels like a bargain transfer fee for Beck. He is 22 years of age, only expected to improve further and already proven in Scottish football. It is almost a no-brainer for Celtic. But then, we have seen such deals not being completed in the past.
The club were linked with a loan deal for Hugo Bueno but that did not work out. Hopefully, the one for Beck does. Ultimately, the target has to be adding a left-back who can improve the team immediately.
