Celtic have been quite successful when it comes to loan deals over the past few years. Of course, Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers proved to be grand success stories and were signed permanently the following summer. Paulo Bernardo was solid too and has also been brought in on a permanent deal. Hopefully, the same will happen with Adam Idah.

Thus, Celtic fans should not overlook how effective good loan deals can be for the Hoops. And it looks like a Liverpool player is on their radar right now.

That player is Bobby Clark. He is highly-rated at Liverpool and has already played a bit of football at the senior level. He is nowhere near being a starter though, which means that he could do with a loan spell away.

As it turns out, it looks like Celtic's interest in Clark is genuine and not a creation of the rumour mill, as so many other stories often turn out to be. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, journalist Mark Guidi said on The Go Radio Football Show:

"From what I know, that is a genuine interest.

“It’s a real interest. It’s something that’s been on the radar for four or five months, from what I can gather. Again, from what I can gather, the boy is certainly interested to learn more if Liverpool are willing to let him go.

“But I think Arne Slot likes him, but he’s willing to listen to more in terms of what Celtic would have to offer. It would be a loan deal because I think the minimum fee is £12m for him.

“Obviously, Celtic can’t go to that kind of level, but if they could get young Bobby Clark on loan, could play along the midfield, could play up front, quite dynamic, then I think that would be a really good signing for Celtic if they could get that one over the line.

“But I think at the moment, Arne Slot hasn’t made up his mind whether he wants to keep the boy and integrate him to his first-team squad, or let him go out on loan and gain first-team experience elsewhere."

Journalist drops a fresh Bobby Clark to Celtic transfer update

Clark could be a decent addition to this Celtic team but one has to wonder whether he is good enough to be a starter. Of course, age is not a sign of quality. Just look at what Lamine Yamal achieved at EURO 2024. So, it would be a mistake to count anyone out based on the year they were born.

Clark is not the only midfielder Celtic have been linked with in recent times as well. Manchester United's Hannibal Mejbri is another player who seems to be on their radar.

Thus, it looks like the club are looking for a youngster capable of playing in the middle of the park. One has to wonder whether that is directly linked to the constant speculation around Matt O'Riley's future in Glasgow.
