Celtic are set to travel to Perth to take on St Johnstone this weekend and every game in the Scottish Premiership is an important one in terms of the title race. That being said, fans cannot be blamed if they already have an eye on the upcoming Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund, away at Signal Iduna Park in midweek.

Occasions like this do not come around often. The passion of Borussia Dortmund fans is one of the few that is comparable to that of Celtic.

Playing a Champions League game away at Signal Iduna Park must be on the bucket list of many players. Of course, Celtic should not be there just to take part.

Celtic made a brilliant start to their Champions League campaign with a 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in their opening game. Now, it is important to build upon that, if they want to make it to the playoff round and hopefully, beyond that. A positive result away against Borussia Dortmund would go a long way in making sure of that.

Unfortunately, there is some bad news for Celtic ahead of that game. Cameron Carter-Vickers is dealing with a toe injury at the moment.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Carter-Vickers will miss this weekend's game against St Johnstone and his availability for the trip to Germany seems to be uncertain at this point. As reported by Sky Sports, the Celtic manager said:

"He'll miss tomorrow. He's just got a pain in his big toe in the joint there.

"We'll just have to look at it in each sort of game really. He's been playing with it for a little while but we've got to try and manage it now because he was in pain in the Bratislava game.

"Hopefully it will settle down quite quickly and we'll see where it's at for Tuesday.

"It's difficult to tell. The concentration is on this game, really, and then we'll see where he's at over Sunday and Monday."

Carter-Vickers is arguably Celtic's best and most important defender. Him missing the St Johnstone is a worry in itself. If he can't play against Borussia Dortmund as well, that could be a problem.

Borussia Dortmund are expected to look to make a statement after what has been a shaky start to the season for them. And Celtic would have a tough time keeping the Bundesliga giants at bay if they do not have Carter-Vickers leading the backline.
