Celtic agree bargain transfer fee with Aston Villa for Viljami Sinisalo

It looks like Celtic are on the verge of signing not one but two goalkeepers. Of course, Kasper Schmeichel looks set to be the one to take Joe Hart's place between the posts after the Englishman retired at the end of last season. The Danish international number one is not the only goalkeeper the Hoops look set to sign this summer though.

Viljami Sinisalo appears to be headed to Celtic Park as well. He was linked with the club earlier in the summer and it looks like the speculation was not wide of the mark.

As reported by Football Scotland, Celtic are set to confirm the signing of Sinisalo on a five-year deal this week. The goalkeeper is poised to put pen to paper on a contract at Parkhead after the Scottish champions agreed a fee with Aston Villa. The figure will be around £1 million.

Schmeichel is expected to be the number one next season while Celtic look set to sign Sinisalo with a long-term plan in mind. Let's see if both deals get over the line this week.

Sinisalo is a very highly-rated goalkeeper and he has made a few appearances for the Finland national team as well. But chances did not look set to come at Aston Villa, who have one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now in Emi Martinez.

So, it is understand why Sinisalo might have been looking for a change in scenery this summer. A move to Celtic does make a lot of sense for him.

On the other hand, there is not a lot of risk involved for Celtic in this move. So, it looks like a win-win situation for all parties involved, and the club seem to have done a good job of strengthening between the posts.
