Celtic made a slow start to the summer when it comes to making signings but things seem to be picking up pace in that respect. They are believed to be on the verge of completing a deal to sign Kasper Schmeichel, who will replace Joe Hart in goal. There has also been speculation about the club closing in a deal for Aston Villa goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo.

Of course, the goalkeeping position was the biggest priority this summer on the back of Hart's retirement at the end of last season. There are other positions in need of strengthening as well though.

As tweeted by Sacha Tavolieri, Celtic are interested in Michel-Ange Balikwisha of Royal Antwerp. The Hoops entered into discussions with the player's entourage to explore the possibility of a deal this summer. Clubs should have a talk this week to make some progress on the case.

Balikwisha is a key player for Royal Antwerp. It is expected to take a significant transfer fee to sign the Belgian winger this summer, with his current deal believed to run until 2026.

Someone like Balikwisha could be an excellent signing for Celtic. He had a fantastic 2023/24 campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 10 goals and provided 8 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions last season.

Daizen Maeda has been the regular starter on the left flank for Celtic in recent years. Balikwisha's arrival would give him quite a bit of competition for a starting spot though.

Of course, Balikwisha is capable of playing on the right as well. That is a position were Celtic are not at their strongest at the moment. In fact, towards the end of last season, James Forrest started plenty of games, having moved ahead of other options there.
