Celtic have parted ways with quite a few players so far this summer but the biggest disappointments could be about to come. Of course, there has been constant speculation surrounding the future of Matt O'Riley and if he was to leave, it would be a major blow for the Hoops. He was the club's best player last season. But before that situation plays out, it looks like another highly-rated youngster is headed out of Parkhead.

The player in question is none other than Bosun Lawal. For a long time, fans have wondered what he could do in a Celtic shirt if given a proper chance. We will not get the opportunity to see that though.

As reported by Football Scotland, Lawal is set to become Stoke City's new £2 million signing. That figure could increase and get closer to the £3 million mark with add-ons.

Lawal enjoyed a solid loan spell at Fleetwood Town last season and the hope was that he would be given first-team chances at Celtic moving forward. But it looks like Stoke City's offer was too good to turn down. In many ways, that is a confusing decision.

Celtic have shelled out similar transfer fees to sign so many youngsters from around the world. Plenty of those signings that have not worked out at all.

Lawal is someone who had shown genuine potential at Fleetwood Town and he impressed many with his performances in pre-season. The decision to let him go this summer is a confusing one to say the very least. Why not take a chance on the youngster and see what he can do at the top level?

Celtic have a problem when it comes to developing youngsters into first-team players. And judging by decisions like this, things will remain that way for the foreseeable future.
