It is not new for Premier League clubs to try and sign Celtic's best players. That is something that has happened for decades. In recent years, Brighton & Hove Albion have been one of the best-run teams in English football, constantly exceeding expectations, largely due to their brilliant recruitment. And it looks like they now have their eyes on one of Brendan Rodgers' favourites.

Matt O'Riley has started the season at Celtic and was involved in the league opener against Kilmarnock, even providing an assist on the day. But it would be a surprise if he is at the club at the end of the summer transfer window.

Some of Europe's top clubs are looking to sign him. And as reported by Sky Sports, Brighton & Hove Albion are in talks with Celtic over a deal for O'Riley.

Brighton & Hove Albion could be a brilliant club for O'Riley to join, if he was to indeed leave Celtic. There he would get a chance to make a name for himself at the Premier League level without having the risk of getting lost in the shuffle, which could easily happen at teams like Chelsea and Liverpool.

Hopefully, O'Riley has not set his mind on leaving Celtic this summer and is open to staying at the club for at least one more season. Working another year under the management of Rodgers could do him a world of good.

It remains to be seen how things play out in the O'Riley transfer saga. For now, he is a Celtic player. Let's hope that is the case come September.

Celtic have been linked with quite a few midfielders recently as well. That might hint at the club looking at potential replacements if O'Riley was to leave.
