Brendan Rodgers addresses big Celtic injury worry ahead of Glasgow Derby
The 2024 summer transfer window is now in the books. Time sure does fly. it was a memorable one for Celtic. Of course, Matt O'Riley leaving was a blow for the Hoops. But at the same time, they made some key additions as well. Arne Engels arrived for a club-record £11 million fee. Auston Trusty, Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo, Alex Valle and Luke McCowan were also brought in. Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo were signed permanently after successful loan spells at Parkhead.
Now, the focus will turn towards the upcoming Glasgow Derby. In case you somehow forgot, it is this weekend at Parkhead.
Celtic will be the favourites going into the game but the Rangers are coming off of a big result as well. Do not expect this to be a one-sided contest by any means. Brendan Rodgers' side will need to bring their A-game if they want a positive result.
Celtic fans were left sweating when Cameron Carter-Vickers appeared to miss a training session leading up to the Glasgow Derby. There were fears that he had suffered an injury. It did look like he had picked up an ankle knock against St Mirren last weekend but carried on playing.
Brendan Rodgers addresses big Celtic injury worry ahead of Glasgow Derby
Rodgers has now addressed the situation of Carter-Vickers ahead of the Glasgow Derby. Thankfully, it is a positive update and the centre-back seems to be fine. As reported by Football Scotland, the Celtic manager said:
"We sometimes do that with players who are overloaded and we measure and monitor that. We can take one or two out and give them a recovery day having worked hard all week. He's fine."
That update will be music to the ears of the Celtic supporters. It looks like Carter-Vickers will be available to face the Rangers this weekend.
Carter-Vickers has been Celtic's best defender since he joined the club in 2021. He had his injury problems last season but hopefully, he can put them behind this time around and go on to have a great campaign.
