Celtic will be preparing to face the toughest task of their season in midweek. They will not only be taking on last season's finalists, Borussia Dortmund, in the Champions League but the Hoops will also have to make the trip to Signal Iduna Park. That is one of the legendary atmospheres in European football and one that Brendan Rodgers' side cannot afford to affect them negatively.

On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund have plenty of issues to deal with as well. The transition in managers, from Edin Terzic to Nuri Sahin, has not been a smooth one.

Sahin is a club legend. He came through the ranks at Borussia Dortmund and made almost 300 appearances for them, evening winning the Bundesliga during his time as a player. Other than that, he also had spells at teams like Real Madrid and Liverpool.

He is not the most experienced of managers though. And Borussia Dortmund have looked shaky this season so far. They lost 5-1 to VfB Stuttgart a couple of weeks back. In their most recent game, they went down two goals against VfL Bochum before mounting a comeback and winning 4-2. The issues at the back are clear to see though.

Sahin has openly criticised his team's defending before they take on Celtic in midweek. As reported by Football Scotland, the Borussia Dortmund manager said:

"There are clearly issues we still need to address before our next game against Celtic because going two goals down is unacceptable. Our defending needs to be looked at because they were 2-0 up and had a chance to make it 3-0, which would have given us a huge problem.

"We can't start suddenly playing when we are two goals down. That said, I was absolutely delighted with the application shown by the players because they refused to give up and fought back to win."

Of course, Borussia Dortmund will be the heavy favourites going into the game. But that does not mean that Celtic cannot cause them problems.

Celtic's defence has earned a lot of praise this season but they have been equally good going forward. They prepared for the Borussia Dortmund match with a 6-0 win over St Johnstone at the weekend. Overall, they have scored 20 goals in their six Premiership matches so far and found the back of the net five times in their Champions League opener against Slovan Bratislava.
