Arne Engels makes fantastic claim about Celtic fans
Celtic signed Arne Engels from FC Augsburg for a club-record £11 million transfer fee this summer. It would not be right to say that he was a household amongst the supporters before rumours emerged regarding a potential move earlier in the window. But it is very pretty that the club are convinced about the Belgian midfielder's talent and potential.
Engels has big shoes to fill though. He has been brought in, pretty much as the replacement for Matt O'Riley, who joined Brighton & Hove Albion in a Scottish record £30 million transfer this summer.
That does not mean that Engels is guaranteed a spot in the starting XI already. At least not after the fantastic performance Paulo Bernardo put in against the Rangers at the weekend.
Engels made his debut on the same day, coming off the bench against the Rangers. And it looks like the Celtic fans made a positive impression on the Belgian midfielder.

It has been quite the week for Engels. Not only did he make his Celtic debut but he was also called up by the Belgian national team for the first time.
The Belgian midfielder also appears to have been blown away by the level of support he witnessed at the Glasgow Derby. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Engels said while talking to the press:
"The fans are great, from what I have experienced in the match against Rangers, it was incredible.
"Being there and seeing how much the fans get behind the team was really beautiful to experience."
Engels looked solid on his debut. Hopefully, there is a lot more to come from him over the coming weeks, months and years. Considering the transfer fee that the club shelled out to sign the midfielder, the minimum expectation is for him to develop into one of the Hoops' best players.
At the same time, it will be important to show some patience with Engels as well. It is important to remember that he is 20 years of age and might need some time to adjust to the Scottish game.
