Sead Haksabanovic recently completed a Celtic exit, joining Malmo on a permanent basis. It was probably the right step for all parties involved and parting ways was the right decision, with the player having no real future at Parkhead. And there are others who could follow him out the exit door this summer.

There are plenty of players Celtic have signed in recent times, for whom things have not worked out at Parkhead. Of course, one has to question the recruitment strategy and hopefully, there will be changes in their approach moving forward.

Gustaf Lagerbielke is someone who has struggled since joining Celtic last summer. He was expected to compete with Maik Nawrocki for the starting spot vacated by Carl Starfelt's departure but neither of them has gotten regular playing time.

There is still a belief that things could eventually work out for Nawrocki. Lagerbielke has never looked like the right fit for Celtic though and an exit might be the best route for him.

As reported by Football Insider, Lagerbielke is expected to leave Celtic this summer. Journalist and Scottish expert Daniel Bowers explained on their Inside Track podcast that the centre-back is a “stick-on to leave.”

There is an expectation that Celtic will be signing another centre-back this summer to compete with Liam Scales for a first-team spot as the Irishman is viewed by many as someone who should not be an automatic starter. And that would make things even more difficult for someone like Lagerbielke, who is already on the periphery of the squad as things are.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Lagerbielke. Quite a few Italian clubs have been linked with him in recent times and an exit even seemed close in the winter, but did not ultimately materialise. Perhaps the Serie A is his most likely destination next. Whether that will be on a permanent basis or on loan remains to be seen.

While Lagerbielke's time at Celtic Park has not been great by any stretch of the imagination, that does not mean that he has not contributed anything. He played his part in a Glasgow Derby win last season, keeping a clean sheet against the Rangers at Ibrox. The Swede also scored the winner against Feyenoord in the Champions League, the Hoops' first win in the competition after several years.
