The Celtic squad has undergone quite a few changes since the departure of Ange Postecoglou and the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as his replacement last year. Understandably so, as they are different kinds of managers. But there are some players who could not make an impression under either of them.

One of the first arrivals for Celtic in the summer of 2021 was Liam Shaw. He had impressed at Sheffield Wednesday and looked like a solid addition for the club. Some even compared his attributes to that of Kristoffer Ajer.

It is worth pointing out that while Shaw did arrive in the summer of 2021, a pre-contract had been agreed with him before Postecoglou became Celtic manager. He featured a couple of times for the Hoops, including in a win against Real Betis, before leaving on loan to join Motherwell in the second half of the campaign.

Shaw had subsequent loan spells at Morecambe and Wigan Athletic. And it looks like he quietly left Celtic in the summer even though a year was left on his contract. Now, he has found himself a new club.

As reported by Fleetwood Town's official website, Shaw has joined the club. He arrives on a permanent contract until the summer of 2025.

Fleetwood Town currently play in League Two of English football. They were managed by Scott Brown when they were in League One but decided to part ways with him early on last season. It proved to be a mistake as they were relegated.

Of course, League Two feels like a bit of a step down for Shaw. He was playing in the Championship while breaking through the ranks at Sheffield Wednesday. Even in the previous two seasons, he was on loan in the English third division.

Celtic provide a career boost for many footballers. It is clear that the move did not work out for Shaw. He now finds himself in League Two and in need of bringing things back on track.
