£8m Mateusz Bogusz to Celtic move could be on after latest comments
Celtic made eight new additions to their squad over the summer, seven on a permanent basis and one on loan. When Matt O'Riley left for Brighton & Hove Albion, the club made a couple of additions to fill the void. They shelled out a record transfer fee to bring in Arne Engels from FC Augsburg while Dundee FC captain, Luke McCowan, was signed at the last minute as well.
One player who Celtic were linked with in the last days of the window but could not sign was Mateusz Bogusz. He has been a standout performer for Los Angeles FC this season and recently made his full Poland national team debut on the back of those performances.
Bogusz stayed put at LAFC, having established himself as a key player for them. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 17 goals and provided 7 assists in 36 appearances this season.
It is safe to say that the former Leeds United player is thriving in the MLS. Yet, it looks like the ultimate focus for Bogusz is to get back to Europe.

As reported by the Daily Record, Bogusz's father, Piotr, said while speaking to Przeglad Sportowy:
"When we first heard about the interest from MLS, we didn’t treat it with much enthusiasm. We thought that maybe it would be better to wait for other offers. Mateusz wasn’t convinced either.
"But the Americans didn’t give up, they were determined and that’s probably the main reason why he decided to make this move. Coach (Steve) Cherundolo and the club’s director called us and presented us with an idea for Mati."
They saw goalscoring potential in Bogusz and viewed the MLS as just a stopover for him, as they would transfer him to Europe after some time. Piotr continued:
"We liked this vision and decided to take a risk. Today we see that risk has paid off, but he hopes sooner rather than later to return to Europe."
Of course, a move to Celtic could be a great next step for Bogusz. He has shown his ability to score consistently in the MLS. It would be interesting to see if that translates to the European game.
Bogusz's form for LAFC means that it would take a significant transfer fee to sign him. A figure north of £8 million was suggested last month when the rumours about a potential move to Celtic were doing the rounds.
