Celtic made quite a few signings over the summer. The decision to bring in Kasper Schmeichel as a free agent has certainly proven to be the right one, as the Danish international has been superb in goal as Joe Hart's replacement. Arne Engels looks like a fantastic addition to this team as well. Of course, we all knew what to expect from Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo, and have not been disappointed.

We are yet to see much of the other four summer signings. Luke McCowan has scored a goal already but overall, he is not expected to be a starter for the Hoops. Viljami Sinisalo is also a cover option in goal to Schmeichel.

Alex Valle and Auston Trusty got their first Celtic starts at the weekend against Falkirk. Unfortunately, they were not able to impress up against lower league opposition.

Celtic actually went into the break down 2-1 and it was the introduction of Nicolas Kuhn in the second half that turned the game around in favour of the Hoops. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Marvin Bartley told Premier Sports:

"It’s a fantastic finish, we spoke about Agyeman before the game, he uses his physical presence and heads it back down into a dangerous area.

“I think Trusty has no idea where the centre-forward is though, he is going back into his own box, before he realises it, there is a shot from the edge of the box and it leaves Kasper with no chance at all. I thought Celtic struggled down that left-hand side. Both the left-sided centre-half and left-back have both struggled in the game so far.

“They knew what they were coming up against. These players had an opportunity to stake their claim in the Celtic squad and they are not doing well enough, at this moment in time."

It would be safe to say that Trusty did not impress against Falkirk. But then, none of the defenders did, as Celtic conceded as many goals in the first 45 minutes as they had in the season until then.

But then, the defenders deserve the benefit of the doubt too. This was a completely different defensive four and none of them are starters for Celtic at the moment.

A defence always takes some time to gel and they had not gotten any. So, perhaps the shaky display was to be expected.

There is a lot of hype around Trusty and some even expect him to cruise the Scottish league. Let's hope there is a lot more to come once he settles in.
