£50m Premier League player names Liam Scales as his Celtic hero
Liam Scales has enjoyed quite the rise at Celtic since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers as manager. He was signed in the summer of 2021 from Shamrock Rovers. The Republic of Ireland international played some games under the management of Ange Postecoglou in his debut season at Parkhead but was not an important part of the team by any stretch of the imagination.
So much so that he was sent out on loan to Aberdeen the following season. He did well there but even then, a regular spot at Celtic did not seem to be on the cards upon returning.
It was believed that a permanent move to Aberdeen was a possibility last summer. But Celtic picked up multiple injuries at centre-back and so, an exit did not materialise. Instead, Scales was brought into the starting XI by Rodgers in the absence of others and he has not lost that spot since then.
Evan Ferguson recently appeared on Open Goal. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, when asked by Simon Ferry who his Celtic hero is, the Brighton & Hove Albion striker named Scales.

Ferguson and Scales are international teammates. So, it is not hard to see why the Brighton & Hove Albion ace would name the defender as his Celtic hero. That was the safe answer to give.
It is worth pointing out that Celtic were one of Ferguson's favourite teams growing up, alongside Manchester United. He even trialled for the Hoops but eventually chose to join Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ferguson has already made over 50 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion and feels like he has been around for a while. The hype surrounding him might not seem as high lately with names like Jhon Duran and Samu Omorodion getting more attention. But one cannot forget that the Irish striker is still 19 years old and has plenty of time to develop further.
