It would be safe to say that Celtic fans are calling out the issues at the club right now. The failed Champions League qualification campaign and summer transfer window appear to have opened the floodgates to supporter dissatisfaction and now, they want change to take place before taking a step back.

Admittedly, there are a ton of issues with the club right now. There is absolutely no doubt about that. But at the same time, they have taken some steps in the positive direction as well.

One of them is the recent opening of the new training centre at Barrowfield. Not only does it serve as a home for the women's team but also for the boys and girls academies as well.

The hope is that it will help the club develop better players in the future, who will be ready to make the jump into the first-team picture. But for that to happen, they will have to be given a proper chance at the senior level, which they are not getting at the moment.

'Pointless' - Celtic fans react to the club's announcement

Celtic recently announced the release of a video of them visiting their Barrowfield facility but the fans used the comment section to call out the issue of not giving a proper chance to their youngsters in the first place. One wrote: "A generation of future Millwall players cause we don't give youth a proper chance. Wonderful!"

Another pointed out the lack of a route into the senior said, writing: "Pointless if there is no clear pathway into the first teams."

Of course, these are problems worth taking into account for sure. If Celtic are serious about developing first-team level players through their academies, better plans need to be in place for when they make the jump to the senior team.

Right now, it quite clearly is not working. The last one to make that jump and become a starter at the senior level was Kieran Tierney almost a decade ago.
