Contrary to popular belief, Celtic's scouting is not bad at all. Oftentimes, they have been linked with players who have gone on to achieve big things, whether that be at Parkhead or elsewhere. The recruitment is where the real issue lies. The problem is, the club only seem comfortable doing deals in a certain range and appear to have a desire to 'win' every deal.

A lot of the time, that results in them missing out on quality players. Just this summer, Mathias Kvistgaarden completed a move to Norwich City after being linked with Celtic for three straight summers. Another example that comes to mind immediately is Ivan Toney, back when he was at Peterborough United. Unfortunately, these are not rare instances either.

Another player Celtic had been linked with back in the summer of 2023 is Ardon Jashari. He was playing for Luzern back then. A move did not happen and he would eventually end up joining Club Brugge for around €6 million the following year. A pretty modest fee that the Hoops should not have any problem paying if they wanted to.

Well, at Club Brugge, Jashari established himself as one of the brightest young midfielders in European football. He has joined AC Milan this summer for a transfer fee believed to be around €39 million.

It is safe to say that someone like Jashari could have been a fantastic signing for Celtic. But unfortunately, the Hoops did not make a move when they had the chance.

This is something that needs to change. But there are no signs that it will. Just look at the ongoing transfer window for proof.

The club have made multiple failed bids for Jakob Breum, getting nowhere near what Go Ahead Eagles want to part ways with him. Their offer for Adam Obert is believed to have been rejected as well. And how long has the Michel-Ange Balikwisha transfer saga dragged on for.
