It would be an understatement to say that Celtic fans are not happy with the club's lack of activity, in terms of signings, in the ongoing summer transfer window. That being said, the Hoops rarely get their business done early. So, this is nothing new. The Ange Postecoglou era was a welcome exception but it has been back to square one since the Australian left.
Just look at the last summer transfer window. Arne Engels, Auston Trusty and Luke McCowan were all signed on Deadline Day. Even Adam Idah was brought in in mid-August. So, just because the Hoops have not made any significant signings so far does not mean that they necessarily won't.
That being said, one cannot overlook the fact that Celtic did not need to qualify for the Champions League last season. This time around, they will need to get past either FC Kairat or Slovan Bratislava over a two-legged tie to get into the main phase of the competition. So, signings should have been made by this point.
The club continue to be linked with players though. As reported by Football Insider, Celtic and Rangers have joined the race to sign AS Monaco left-back Kassoum Ouattara. Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen to bring in a new left-back before the summer transfer window closes, whether it be a permanent or loan move.
Celtic keen to sign €7m French defender this summer
Ouattara was getting a decent bit of playing time in the first half of the 24/25 campaign for AS Monaco. But after the turn of the year, he struggled to get into the team. The Frenchman was not helped by fitness issues.
So, it might be time to consider a change of scenery. Transfermarkt have given Ouattara a €7 million transfer valuation.
It is hard to imagine that Celtic would be willing to spend that kind of money on a player who is going to be the cover option for Kieran Tierney at left-back. So, if a move is made for the AS Monaco youngsters, it is most likely going to be a loan one.
