One player who left Celtic this summer could be set to find a new club, with pre-season now up and running for most clubs. The Bhoys are busy trying to do business of their own this summer, yet to make a start in terms of new signings.

Meanwhile, the players they have released, which so far includes Kelechi Iheanacho, will likely be looking for new jobs. And another of the released stars, Josh Clarke, could be set to find a new club amid an offer in League One.

Clarke offered EFL League One gig

According to the Daily Record, now former Celtic goalkeeper Josh Clarke has been offered a deal by EFL League One side Doncaster Rovers. Strangely, Clarke is said to have had a pre-contract agreement with Partick Thistle, but that could now be voided.

Clarke spent time with the Scottish club on loan last season and did well, but it seems he is more interested in heading South. Doncaster are said to have made an approach, and they have already signed another goalkeeper in Tommy Simkin on a loan deal from Stoke City, so Clarke would face a tough job to be a starter.

But only 21 years of age, Clarke can afford to have a long-term view, and you would imagine the pay is better at Rovers compared to Partick Thistle.

Clarke is also more familiar with England, too, with the Northern Irishman having come through at Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth before being released before making it at senior level for the Cherries.

He then worked his way back from the semi-pros with Glenavon, signing for Celtic B and going on to have loan spells with Airdrieonians, Ayr United and the aforementioned Patrick Thistle.

Clarke made 33 league appearances for Thistle as they reached the promotion play-off, ultimately losing to St Mirren, and as mentioned, he was expected to stay full-time, but he could be set to change his plans to join a Doncaster side that finished 14th in League One last season. That could make for an awkward conversation, given there was a contract agreed. It's not impossible that Doncaster will have to pay some compensation to void that contract, either.

Clarke never made a senior appearance for Celtic, spending much of his time with the B team and out on loan, but as with all Hoops alumni, it would be good to see the keeper land on his feet, especially after an impressive bounce back from falling out of the professional game as a youngster.
