The Celtic managerial search is turning out to be a very difficult one to predict. That is because there is no clear frontrunner for the job. Early on, it had looked like Ange Postecoglou was going to be the top choice. He is a proven success in Scotland, a fan favourite at Parkhead, and most importantly, without a club at the moment.

The issue is, Postecoglou appears to be looking to spend some time away from the game after getting sacked twice within the space of a few months. He was shown the exit door by Tottenham Hotspur in the summer despite ending their 18-year wait for silverware by winning the Europa League. Then, he lasted only 39 days in charge of Nottingham Forest.

On the other hand, it is believed that Mark van Bommel has turned down the job as well. And there have been some suggestions that Robbie Keane has applied for the vacant Wolves role.

Joe Ledley appears to be of the belief that Wales national team boss, Craig Bellamy, would be perfect for Celtic. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

"There have been a lot of links down here with Craig Bellamy. He's had a fantastic start to his managerial career at Wales.

“There’s a lot of hype around him. The way Wales are playing has been fantastic - really attacking minded, always on the front foot. He'd be a perfect option for Celtic.

"Whether it's too early for him, and maybe Craig wants to continue with Wales and get to a World Cup, we'll see.

“There's an international break this month and then hopefully they will be in the playoffs in March.

"I’ve told people up there he'd be a fantastic candidate for the Celtic job because of the way he plays. He’s always attacking-minded, enthusiastic, and lives and breathes football."

The issue is, Bellamy has very little experience when it comes to being a manager. He only has 14 games under his belt with Wales. So, it would be risky for Celtic to appoint someone like him, despite how highly he seems to be regarded.

Celtic fans would prefer a more proven option. Of course, the past connection with the club, having spent time at Parkhead on loan, would make the transition a bit easier for the Wales national team manager.

There have also been suggestions that Bellamy does not want to leave, with Wales still in contention to qualify for the World Cup. So, it remains to be seen whether Celtic are willing to wait for him.

Interestingly, there have been some claims that Celtic's preferred choice will become available in December. Do they point towards Bellamy? Or someone else, like Kjetil Knutsen, whose contract at Bodo/Glimt runs out at the end of the year?

The possibility of Martin O'Neill staying put until the end of the season has been floated as well. And that might make a ton of sense if Celtic continue to produce results.
