Manchester City have not had the greatest of seasons so far. That has led to more than usual transfer activity for them in the winter window. Omar Marmoush is one player believed to be on the verge of joining Pep Guardiola's side. The domino effect that will follow could end up derailing some of Celtic's long-term plans though.
Celtic are always on the lookout for the next big thing. One player they have been linked with for years now is Mathias Kvistgaarden of Brondby.
Rumours suggest that Celtic have submitted transfer offers for Kvistgaarden in the past without success. And now, he is drawing interest from other clubs as well.
Could he end up in the Bundesliga instead? As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Kvistgaarden is one of several candidates Eintracht Frankfurt are considering to replace Marmoush.
Pep Guardiola's Man City could derail Celtic plans
Of course, Celtic have been linked with plenty of other players who play in a similar role. One of the most recent ones amongst them is Aston Villa's Louie Barry.
Barry recently returned to Aston Villa after an excellent loan spell at Stockport County in the first half of the season, as he managed to score 15 goals in 23 appearances in League One. That kind of form seems to have caught the attention of Celtic, who are believed to be looking to sign the youngster on a permanent basis.
In fact, there have been suggestions that Celtic are willing to make a £10 million transfer offer for Barry. Half of it would be the initial fee while the remaining £5 million would be in add-ons.
It remains to be seen if Celtic do end up signing Barry, Kvistgaarden or anyone of that ilk this winter. They could certainly do with reinforcements up top as they have been missing a lot of chances lately.
