Celtic have been struggling to score goals this season. It seems as though no one can hit the ground running, and Pat Bonner believes that the Hoops made a mistake selling Adam Idah to Swansea.

He said: "It’s incredible to think that Celtic, when you compare all the great strikers they have had over the years.

"People that we lauded. People that we talked about. People who have gone down in history, and they haven’t gone one at this moment in time.

"That’s been the way since Kyogo left. Even before that, we were saying that they needed another one to come in alongside Kyogo. It’s quite incredible.

"They sold Adam Idah, looking back on it now, that was probably a mistake. But they were getting decent money for him. £7 million, did they spend £9 million, so they got their money back.

"They went for the money rather than thinking about what they are going to do going forward.

"They brought Adamu, but he hasn’t done anything since he came in, so they have had opportunities to rectify it, but they haven’t done it.

"That’s where they are stuck. It’s incredible that we are talking about the deficiencies in the Celtic team of a key striker."

Celtic's goalscoring record is a problem

Celtic need to score more goals in the split. Thankfully, there is promise of that happening after the 6-2 win over St Mirren in the Scottish Cup at the weekend. Whether we will carry that form over to the league is yet to be seen.

Bonner has a point about the sale of Idah. The club simply haven't invested the money in the right players, and that has come back to bite us.

There is a lot of work to do in the summer. A new striker has to be priority number one, but with Callum Osmand seemingly close to his return, that may solve our issue, at least in the short term.

It would be brilliant to end a difficult season with Celtic lifting the league title. It would also be a great send-off to Martin O'Neill. But everyone needs to be pulling in the same direction, and right now, it still seems that some players aren't on the same page.

Hopes are high among the fanbase though, especially after last weekend's win. Only time will tell what will happen, but hopefully, our strikers will finally find their shooting boots.
