Callum Osmand and Alistair Johnston both played in a behind-closed-doors game on Wednesday, offering Celtic fans a glimpse into how close they may be to their return.
According to sources, and revealed by celtsmedia on X, the pair featured against an unconfirmed opponent. Whoever they faced, it's great news that they are ready enough to take to the pitch, and it could be promising news for the competitive fixture against Falkirk this weekend.
Both would be a major boost for this team, especially going into the split, and seeing them named even on the bench on Saturday would be incredible. They likely won't be thrown in the deep end and start, but getting any minutes in their legs right now is a major positive.
Osmand's return could solve Celtic's problems
When he played earlier in the season, Osmand looked incredibly promising. He actually seemed like a striker who could find the back of the net, and as we know all too well, the Hoops have struggled to find a player like that throughout the campaign.
Many strikers have come through the door, such as Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu, and all have failed to impress the manager. Osmand could get his chance, and if he takes it, that could secure his spot in the starting lineup.
With him coming back from injury, it could take him some time to get back to his best. Being out for an extended period of time is never easy, and although he may feel ready, you never really know until you're out there. The best thing the fans can do is to give him our full support.
Johnston comes back at the perfect time
With Julian Araujo and Colby Donovan out injured, Johnston couldn't come back at a better time. To be fair, Anthony Ralston has proved his doubters wrong, even managing to find the net at the weekend, but the Canadian is a strong presence who could push us to the title.
The race for the league is intense and Rangers and Hearts will not be keen to give up. We need to win every game from here on out, preferably with a few goals here and there to assist the goal difference, and with two incredible players almost ready to return to the matchday squad, things are looking up for Celtic.
Even if they don't feature against Falkirk, they should be ready for the trip to Easter Road at the start of May. Fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong this late in their recovery.
