We’re fast approaching the January transfer window now. Inevitably there are plenty of rumours and news stories flying around about potential Celtic signings. Undoubtedly, Brendan Rodgers and Paul Tisdale will have had their heads together, studying potential options. But then, there are those who could leave.
A key position under scrutiny will be left-back. At the moment Greg Taylor and Alex Valle are vying for the position.
Taylor though could be on the verge of an exit. His contract runs out at the end of the season and curiously, he has not been handed a new one despite being a starter for the past few seasons. He may feel his time is up at Parkhead amid rumours of teams in the MLS being interested.
Valle looks to have real potential. He is still inexperienced, but the signs are very encouraging. He is on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season. Add in the growing rumours of Kieran Tierney making a possible return to his boyhood club and the left-back situation looks quite complex.
Palmeiras keen on signing in-form Celtic player
There’s a further piece of the left-back jigsaw puzzle to consider, though, with some urgency about it. Alexandro Bernabei has been away on loan to Internacional in Brazil for most of this year. That deal expires at the end of December with the player set to return to Glasgow if nothing else can be arranged before then. There is no lack of interest in his signature though.
As reported by the Daily Record, Internacional are 'constantly making' calls to Glasgow. Palmeiras are also keen to try and sign Bernabei.
Celtic are believed to be looking for around £7 million to part ways with Bernabei. That seems hefty but given the way he is performing in Brazil, it’s a fair expectation. Internacional though will struggle to match that figure.
