Not many nations have named their squads for the World Cup this summer. However, Sweden has already announced their roster and Benjamin Nygren is in it.

It is well deserved as Nygren has been a key player for Celtic this season. In 55 games, he has scored 20 goals and provided eight assists. The Hoops play Motherwell tonight in their penultimate Scottish Premiership match of the campaign.

Martin O'Neill's side then plays Hearts in the final league game, which is expected to be a shootout as to who will win the division. Celtic then play Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup to round off their season.

Nygren has adapted to Scottish soccer very well after joining from Nordsjælland last summer. He began his career in Sweden with IFK Göteborg. He then went to Genk and was sent on loan to Heerenveen prior to joining Nordsjælland.

Benjamin Nygren was instrumental in helping Sweden get to the World Cup

The 24-year-old earned his first cap last year in a 1-0 defeat to Luxembourg in a friendly. He then scored his first goal in a 5-1 win over Northern Ireland in another exhibition match.

Sweden's path to the World Cup this summer was not smooth. They did not win a single game in their qualifying group. They lost both of their matches against both Kosovo and Switzerland and could only draw their ties with Slovenia. It is a surprise that they struggled, considering they have such a strong squad, which includes the likes of Liverpool's Alexander Isak and Arsenal's Viktor Gyökeres.

John Dal Tomasson was replaced by Graham Potter mid-way through their qualifiers. Potter had begun the season as West Ham United's manager before he was fired. However, he managed to guide them through the playoffs. It was a fitting appointment as Potter had made a name for himself as a manager at the Swedish club Ă–stersunds.

Nygren got an assist in the playoff semi-final against Ukraine, which Sweden won 3-1. The Celtic player then set up another goal as Sweden booked their place at the World Cup with a 3-2 win over Poland in the final.

Potter's side has a challenging group at the World Cup. They will face Tunisia, the Netherlands, and Japan in their group. After playing such a key role in both of Sweden's playoff matches, Nygren will be expecting to add to his nine caps at the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
