It feels like a lifetime ago that Odsonne Edouard was leading the line for Celtic. The Frenchman was brilliant during his four years at Parkhead, getting past the 20-goal mark for three consecutive seasons. And in the summer of 2021, he decided to test himself in the Premier League by joining Crystal Palace.
Edouard's exit did not come as a surprise to anybody. He was being linked with a move away for months at that point in time.
Things never clicked for Edouard in the Premier League though. He scored some goals for Crystal Palace but nearly not enough and was sent out on loan to Leicester City in the summer.
Things have been even worse for him with Leicester City. Despite being fit, it has been months since he was last on the pitch and he is not even making matchday squads anymore. So, it might be time for a change and potential return.
Odsonne Edouard linked with blockbuster Celtic return
As reported by the Daily Record, Edouard won't be offered a permanent deal to stay at Leicester City. He doesn't feature in the long-term plans of Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, either. With Celtic in the search for a new goalscorer, the Frenchman may well be on Brendan Rodgers' radar.
Celtic are no strangers to bringing back former players. In the winter, Jota made his return to Glasgow, merely 18 months after leaving, In the summer, Kieran Tierney will be coming back, having already agreed a pre-contract the Hoops.
Will Edouard end up joining that list? On paper, the timing does make a ton of sense. Celtic did not end up replacing Kyogo in the winter, when he left to join Rennes. So, they could very well try to sign a striker in the summer and the Frenchman is proven in Scottish football, who at 27 years of age, is entering his prime.
