Odin Thiago Holm has spoken out about his time at Celtic after rejoining his former club on loan.

The midfielder joined the Hoops under Brendan Rodgers in 2023 for a fee of £2.6 million, but to date, has only made 16 appearances for the club. In January of last year, he made the move to America to join LAFC in the MLS, but only managed to play five games before picking up a serious injury.

Now, he has returned to his former club Valerenga on loan until December, and he is excited to be back. It didn't take long for him to give a scathing assessment of his time in Glasgow.

Speaking on the VG podcast, he said: "I've missed being here [Valerenga]. I've been really looking forward to coming back.

"It's been tough. Glasgow is a tough city. When you don't have a social network, and you end up in a situation where you're not playing football, it's hard to find many sources of joy.

"There wasn't much joy in football, and that's natural when you don't play.

"My first priority is to enjoy football again. It was really good to get a session here again. The body feels good."

It's not looking good for a potential Celtic revival

Holm's words don't bode well for supporters hoping that he will come back to Celtic and perform. It sounds as though the player may have ruled out any possibility of that, but only time will tell.

If he starts to find his feet and enjoy his football again, maybe he will be willing to give the Hoops a second chance. Of course, that would rely on the next manager also being willing to put trust in him, but that could happen.

There is a player in there, but whether he can bring it to the surface is yet to be seen. It would be great if he turns out to be one of Celtic's best squad members one day, but right now, that seems unlikely.

To be fair to him, he has been incredibly unlucky with injuries and falling out of favour. His time in the MLS could have been much more fruitful if he hadn't suffered the leg problem that left him feeling, as he described, "half paralysed".

There is still time for him to prove himself, and no doubt, Celtic fans will be keeping a close eye on his progress.
