There are a number of positions where Celtic have left themselves short, owing to a poor summer transfer window. Of course, there has been a lot of talk about strengthening up front, on the wing and even in defence. But one position that has not gotten as much attention, even though it has been a weakness for the Hoops lately, is goalkeeper.

Kasper Schmeichel has had a shaky season so far. Yes, he has put in some good performances. But at the same time, there have been some terrible errors along the way as well, especially in Europe.

Many fans are keen to see him being dropped for Viljami Sinisalo. But amid all this, it looks like a Premier League and Scottish international goalkeeper is open to a move to Celtic, if reports are on the mark.

As reported by Football Insider, Nottingham Forest’s Angus Gunn is eager to join Celtic after being slipping down the pecking order. A move in January is unlikely though. Pete O'Rourke said:

"We’ll be keeping tabs on Gunn but I don’t think Celtic probably right now will be looking to bring in a new keeper in January."

Gunn is a full Scottish international and has Premier League experience. Over the course of his career, he has been at clubs like Manchester City, Stoke City, Norwich City, Southampton and now, Nottingham Forest. He is still just 29 years of age as well.

He joined Nottingham Forest last summer and chances were always going to be rare. But even then, nobody could have foreseen him struggling to make the bench.

That is what has happened since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou at the club. He has made the bench only once in the Australian's seven games in charge so far. And even that was in the League Cup.

So, it is not hard to understand why Gunn might be considering his options already. The good news is that he has only a one-year contract with Nottingham Forest. So, a move for him next summer might be one worth considering.
