Ange Postecoglou's time as Nottingham Forest manager came to an end after just 39 days in charge. Even those who were most pessimistic about the Australian's abilities could have seen this coming. After winning five trophies in two years with Celtic, he has had a much tougher time adjusting to life in England.

Admittedly, Postecoglou did do the unthinkable and won silverware with Tottenham Hotspur. How many managers can say they have done that? Not many in recent memory.

His run at Nottingham Forest was a complete failure though. And to be honest, it was largely down to the issues at the club more than anything else. That being said, it will affect his reputation as a manager and make it tougher for him to get another job in the future.

We can only wish Postecoglou the best moving forward and hope he can bounce back from this disappointment. On the other hand, could it end up having an effect on the future of Brendan Rodgers at Celtic?

It was a rumour we all knew was going to crop up the minute Postecoglou was sacked. As reported by Football Insider, Rodgers is emerging as a candidate for the Nottingham Forest job and is expected to be sounded out by the club.

To be very honest, it does not feel like Rodgers will leave Celtic in the middle of the season again. He has always maintained that he wants to see the end of his contract at the very least, and we expect him to do that. Perhaps we could be proven wrong, but that feels unlikely.

On the other hand, other candidates have been linked with the Nottingham Forest job as well. Sean Dyche is the frontrunner while Roberto Mancini and Marco Silva are also in the running for the post. It is much more likely that it will go to one of them rather than Rodgers at this point in time. Anything can happen in football though. Nobody would have predicted that Postecoglou would be sacked after 39 days in charge. So, you never know.
