It would be an understatement to say that fans are not happy with how things are being run at Celtic at the moment. It is hard to remember the last time when the supporters were this dissatisfied. Even the 2020/21 campaign, which everybody wants to forget, does not seem to compare. That is not a good sign.
A large reason behind that is how little ambition, urgency and efficiency the club showed in the recent summer transfer window. In the aftermath of it, the supporters want changes to be made. The club released a statement in reply, but that failed to meet expectations.
Since then, the club have made another announcement. They have announced that the UEFA Europa League 4-match package is now on sale to Season Ticket holders.
These games will be played against teams like AS Roma, FC Utrecht, SC Braga and Sturm Graz. But the reaction in the comment section was mostly negative, as one would have expected under the current circumstances.
'Not reading the room' - Celtic fans react to club's announcement
The reaction to the announcement was what most people would have expected under these circumstances, completely negative. That must not have been hard to foresee either. One Celtic fan wrote: "Really not reading the room here are you?"
On the other hand, some people decided to use humour, as one fan wrote: "My valuation isn’t in keeping with your top rate of £140. I’d be prepared to offer £70, rising to £85 based on performances."
Of course, that seems to be a dig at how the club are believed to be conducting their business in the transfer market these days. If rumours are accurate, then they made multiple bids for several of their targets this summer but on most occasions, they were not even close to meeting the expectations of the other team and naturally, moves did not end up materialising.
At the end of the day, it is pretty clear that things cannot continue on in this manner. Changes need to be made. When they will take place, one can only wonder.
