Wilfried Nancy will be a relieved man today. On his fifth try, he was finally able to win a game as Celtic manager. For a while, it had looked like things had gone wrong again. With minutes left on the clock, the game was tied at 1-1. But then, the old guard stepped up when it mattered the most. Kieran Tierney put the Hoops ahead in the 88th-minute and James Forrest found the third to put the game to bed in added time.

Of course, this is just one win and three points. It might be crucial in Celtic turning things around though. And there were more positive points to be excited by on the day.

One of them has to be the number of chances that Celtic created. The same thing could be said about their performance in the previous game as well, when they wasted a lot of opportunities before losing to Dundee United.

Fortunately, this one did not head in that direction. That is a positive for sure. And the fans are now pointing towards a different problem, rather than the man in the dugout.

What Celtic might be lacking right now is someone who can finish off the chances that they are creating. As one fan wrote: "Missed loads of chances, that's not Nancy's fault!"

Another Celtic fan added: "Over the moon for Nancy. Did not deserve to drop points today with the chances we created. Let’s push on from here."

We have been very critical of Nancy over his first few weeks in charge of Celtic. At the same time, one cannot ignore the shortcomings of this squad as well.

It does look like the football is improving gradually as the players get used to the system. But at the end of the day, it is up to them to finish off the chances that they create. Wastefulness is a problem that Celtic have had, long before Nancy arrived. One can only hope that adding a quality striker or two in the winter solves the issue.
