One of the latest Celtic transfer rumours has been shut down by Blackburn Rovers manager and former Hoops boss Tony Mowbray.
The Bhoys have been heavily linked with Blackburn goalkeeper Balazs Toth over recent days, with talk they are advancing in talks over a £4million deal. Celtic do need a goalkeeper signing before the end of the window, having lost Kasper Schmeichel to retirement.
But Viljami Sinisalo's impressive form means they will only likely need to sign a keeper who can compete with Sinisalo, rather than a bona fide starter.
Still, Toth was heavily linked, and some reports suggested a deal was well on its way to being done, But Rovers boss Mowbray says those reports are a long way wide of the mark.
"I genuinely haven't got one iota more knowledge, to be honest," Mowbray said, as reported by the Lancashire Telegraph.
"No, I don't know anything about it. I'm pretty sure that there have been no bids, no offers, nothing for him, and it seems to be very media-driven.
"I've got nothing to say, nothing to add, because I don't know anything more. He is a very calm, cool kid, to be honest. He's not fazed at all. He tells me he's just getting on with every day's training and just keep going, so that's what I expect from him."
Toth is Blackburn's starting goalkeeper, and he was for the entirety of last season, providing a reliable pair of hands between the sticks. But he is in the final year of his contract, which is where the reduced reported fee has likely come from.
But it is clearly not the case that Celtic are in advanced talks, nor that they have even made an offer. Mowbray is a head coach rather than a manager, so it is possible he doesn't see all of the offers made for players, but given his seniority and experience, that is unlikely to be the case.
