A lot has already been made about Celtic's transfer plans for the upcoming summer transfer window and there is still a long time to go before that officially opens. The expectation is that the Hoops will make plenty of additions in order to strengthen Brendan Rodgers' squad. On the other hand, there are quite a few who could leave as well. There is a lot of uncertainty at the moment but there is one move that is guaranteed to happen.
Of course, we are talking about Celtic signing Kieran Tierney on a permanent basis from Arsenal in the summer when he becomes a free agent. A pre-contract agreement has already in place between both parties.
Many have questioned Tierney's ambition, coming back to Scotland in what should be his prime. Also, as it turns out, he passed on the chance to join a number of elite teams, including Juventus.
As reported by The Herald, Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla, Juventus and Everton offered Tierney the chance to spend the peak years of his career playing for them. He chose to join Celtic.
News of Juventus offer for Celtic hero emerges out of nowhere
Based on those clubs, it is quite clear that Tierney had the chance to play in a better league and earn a lot more money than he will at Celtic. But sometimes, those things do not matter.
Tierney grew up supporting Celtic and has never made it a secret that he wanted to return to his boyhood club one day. He chose to do it much earlier than anybody would have expected.
Then again, considering Tierney's injury history, you never know how many years of professional football he has left in the tank. Celtic fans will be hoping that 'plenty' is the answer because on top of his game, he is the best player in Scotland.
