Celtic had one of their best European performances in recent memory as they got themselves a 3-1 win against RB Leipzig. Yes, the club have gotten results against high-profile teams in the past as well. But rarely, if ever, has it been this comfortable. The Hoops were by far the better side on the night and the margin of victory could have been bigger if they had taken a few more of their chances.

Of course, the performance should fill Celtic players with belief. They are capable of performing at this level. They have proven that now.

After picking up seven points in the first four games, Celtic were well placed to make it to the next phase of the competition. There are no easy matches at this level though, so the Hoops cannot afford to take anything for granted for even a second.

One issue that Celtic have faced in Europe in recent years is with fines from UEFA. Could there be more to come for an incident in the game against RB Leipzig? As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Neil Lennon told TNT Sports:

"This is quite strange because Leipzig are out, the referees out and Celtic aren’t out.

“That could be a UEFA fine believe it or not. Honestly, it’s all about the timings and I don’t know, maybe Brendan is just having a few extra words with a few of them."

It remains to be seen if Celtic do indeed end up receiving any fine for the incident that Lennon pointed out. It feels unlikely but considering the luck that the Hoops have had with these matters, one would not be surprised.

Let's see how things play out. But the real positive is the football that Celtic played on the night and the results that they were able to get against a top team.

If this is a sign of things to come for Celtic at this level, they could have plenty more memorable nights in Europe. For the time being, they are guaranteed to play at least four more games in the Champions League this season.
