FC Barcelona have been absolutely flying this season. Since the arrival of Hansi Flick as manager, they have been the best team in world football. There can be no doubt about that. And it remains to be seen whether they can keep on performing like this for the entirety of the campaign, but based on current form, it is hard to see anytime capable of defeating them. That being said, the Spanish giants could hand an unexpected problem to Celtic in the very near future.
Celtic were involved with FC Barcelona in the summer transfer window. Alex Valle joined the Hoops on a season-long loan.
Valle has done well so far. He has gotten a decent bit of playing time and it looks like there is finally some competition for the left-back spot at Celtic. That might change soon though.
As reported by El Nacional, Joan Laporta and Deco are working to cancel the agreement with Celtic so that Valle can rejoin Flick's side in the winter. Although for this they would have to pay a financial compensation.
FC Barcelona ready to hand unexpected problem to Celtic
Of course, if Valle were to return to Barcelona in the winter, that would put Celtic in a difficult position. What will they do for the left-back position in that scenario?
Could that potentially open the door for Alexandro Bernabei to get another chance at Celtic when he returns from his loan spell in Brazil? That is unlikely but not impossible at all.
Or could Celtic try to sign another left-back? Do not forget that they have been linked with Kieran Tierney recently and he is believed to be available in the winter, whether on a permanent transfer or on a loan deal.
Finally, it is also possible that Celtic do not sign a left-back and stick with Greg Taylor. That is exactly what they did last season.
