The fan pressure has been on the Celtic board for months. And it looks like we are finally seeing some changes. It has been officially announced by the club that Peter Lawwell will step down as the chairman at the end of this year. He is set to be replaced by Brian Wilson, who has been at Parkhead for a long time as well.

So, one has to wonder how much actual change we will see when it comes to how the club is run, as a result of Peter Lawwell's departure. It does feel like a step in the positive direction though. And there could be more to come pretty soon.

David Low reacted to the news of Lawwell's decision to step down. And he went on to add on X: "More resignations to follow in the new year."

One can only hope that that is the case. For far too long, it has felt like Celtic have been content to stay in the same place rather than look to progress. But it has resulted in a decline as they have stood still while the rest of the footballing world has moved forward, leaving them behind in the process. Just look at their struggles against relatively low-profile teams in Europe over the years. When was the last time the Hoops were able to successfully navigate the Champions League qualifiers?

What Celtic need right now is genuine change when it comes to the entire think tank. More ambition needs to be shown.

Even in Scotland, it feels like the gap is closing. Hearts have progressed. And despite the horror run of Russell Martin, the Rangers are merely three points behind Celtic in the league right now.

The club seem intent on continuing with Wilfried Nancy in hopes of proving the appointment the right one. So, do not be surprised if the Rangers overtake them in the near future with the Frenchman looking completely out of depth and nowhere up to the grade.
