Celtic have made a risky decision by greenlighting Kyogo Furuhashi's departure in the middle of the season. He is set to join Rennes for a transfer fee in excess of €10 million. Qualification to the knockout phase of the Champions League might be secure but there is a lot more left to play for, especially domestically. So, one can only hope that the club bring in a replacement for the Japanese international, who has been their regular starter at striker since arriving in the summer of 2021.

Kyogo might not have been showcasing his best in Brendan Rodgers' system, but he was still a key part of the first-team. With Adam Idah on a 14-game goalless run, Celtic fans will be worried about life after the Japanese international.

Mathias Kvistgardeen is someone who has been suggested as a potential replacement. But it looks like it will take a significant transfer fee to sign him as well. Pretty much what Kyogo is leaving for.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Kvistgaarden is thought to want a move abroad. But Brondby could hold out for a transfer fee of around £10 million including add-ons. Celtic could also face competition from Eintracht Frankfurt, who are looking for a replacement for Omar Marmoush.

Celtic are believed to have had Kvistgaarden on their radar for a long time. They have tried and failed to sign him in the past as well.

Someone like Kvistgaarden could be a decent addition for Celtic. He has found his goalscoring touch lately and has 12 goals in 18 appearances in the ongoing campaign.

It remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a serious push to sign Kvistgaarden. It is very possible that they could decide to use Daizen Maeda as a striker following Kyogo's exit.
