Kyogo Furuhashi is set to leave Celtic in order to join Rennes this winter. That leaves Adam Idah as the only other established option up top for Brendan Rodgers' side. Johnny Kenny has returned after a promising loan spell at Shamrock Rovers recently but he remains inexperienced and someone the manager is not expected to rely heavily on if recent records are anything to go by.
Hopefully, Celtic will sign a replacement for Kyogo this month. But with time quickly running out, they must move swiftly.
Mathias Kvistgaarden is someone Celtic have been linked with for a few years now. It is believed that the club have tried and failed to sign him in the past.
The speculation is not unknown to Kvistgaarden either. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, when asked about Celtic, he told 3 point:
"In the end, as a player, I can’t really do anything except do the best I possibly can – whether it’s for one place or another. That’s the way it is."
Mathias Kvistgaarden directly responds to Celtic links
Kvistgaarden has found his goalscoring touch lately. This season, he has scored 12 times in 18 appearances. So, it is not hard to understand why Celtic are believed to be interested in signing him.
Unfortunately for Celtic, there might be some high-level competition for his signature. It is believed that Eintracht Frankfurt might be looking to sign him as well after Omar Marmoush headed to Manchester City recently.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Kvistgaarden. He has been linked with a move away from Brondby on multiple occasions in the past but nothing has materialised in the past. Will that change this time around? Time shall tell.
Many Celtic fans will be hoping that it does because Idah is on a 14-game goalless run at the moment and does not seem ready to lead the line for the Hoops as they look to finish this campaign with a couple more trophies and more success in the Champions League.
