Based on what we saw last night, one could argue that signing a new goalkeeper has to be near the top of Celtic's transfer wishlist in the final days of the winter window. It is almost certain that they won't be going that route though, despite Kasper Schmeichel's struggles between the posts and Viljami Sinisalo's failure to take the starting spot from his senior teammate. Instead, there are other areas where the Hoops are looking to strengthen. Martin O'Neill has directly hinted at one.

Although most of the talk surrounding Celtic has been about potential striker signings, it looks like the club are focusing on bringing another winger to Parkhead this winter. At least that is what you would be led to believe based on the rumours over the past 24 hours.

The club are rumoured to be in talks over a deal for not one but two wingers. One is Frosinone's Fares Ghedjemis and the other is Dunajska Streda’s Damir Redzic.

O'Neill was directly asked about the pair recently. And as reported by The Scottish Sun, the Celtic manager said about the two potential targets:

"You wouldn’t be a million miles away!

“Could it be one or the other? It could be.

“There has been progress on certain things and I think we can move it along in the next couple of days.

“I don’t want to be that cryptic but I would hate to say something is certain and then it fell away.

“I am very hopeful that we will get recruits in.

“I am looking for a bit of quality to supplement and improve the squad.

“We need that, especially with the extra games in Europe."

If reports are anything to go by, then Ghedjemis is Celtic's top target when it comes to the winger spot. The Frenchman has been in outstanding form in Serie B, scoring 8 goals and providing a couple of assists in 21 appearances. That being said, there are some question marks over whether that form would translate at the top level.

Redzic is widely viewed as the backup option. He has been linked with both Celtic and the Rangers this winter, although the Ibrox club appear to have dropped out of the race.

It would not come as a surprise if a few other names crop up over the next few days. After all, nobody could have seen the Tomas Cvancara signing coming based on rumours. So, it is very possible that the Hoops could sign a winger other than Ghedjemis and Redzic.
