With the transfer window around the corner, clubs around Europe are putting plans in place to strengthen their squads. It can very easily become a game of dominoes. In fact, it feels like Celtic could end up getting caught up in one that involves Premier League's Manchester City and Serie A's Atalanta.

Manchester City have had a bad season by their sky-high standards. As a result, they are expected to make plenty of moves this summer. And one of the players in their sights could end up having an impact on Celtic.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Ederson will not stay at Atalanta. Manchester City are at the forefront and are ready to offer €50 million to sign the midfielder.

Ederson is a key player for Atalanta and featured in 37 games in the Serie A this season. And it looks like the Italian club have already identified Arne Engels as a potential replacement for the Brazilian midfielder.

Manchester City's €50m offer is bad news for Celtic

It was just last summer that Celtic broke their transfer record to sign Engels from FC Augsburg for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £11 million. He had somewhat of a shaky campaign, showing glimpses of his quality but failing to make his presence felt in the big games.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ederson. And it could end up having an impact on the future of Engels.

Celtic fans would not want to see Engels leave after just one year in Glasgow. That being said, there is always the understanding that the players could end up leaving if the right offer arrives on their table. So, let's see how things play out in the upcoming summer transfer window, who stays and who leaves.
