The Rangers takeover has gone through, as was expected. But the club are yet to find their next long-term manager. They quickly confirmed at the end of the season that Barry Ferguson would not be continuing in his role but it remains to be seen who ends up taking his spot in the dugout. Steven Gerrard was believed to be the frontrunner, having won a league title race against Celtic, but the Liverpool legend is reported to have turned down the opportunity to return to Ibrox.

Following this, Davide Ancelotti is widely believed to be the favourite to get the Rangers job, even though he has no experience as a manager, only as a coach in his legendary father's backroom team. And bringing him to Ibrox won't be straightforward either.

As reported by Estadio Deportivo, Ancelotti has an offer from Rangers. But he also has Deportivo de la Coruna in his sights, who have already reportedly expressed interest in signing him.

So, it looks like Ancelotti is considering other opportunities as well. And that might not be great news for the Rangers, especially when it comes to their recent history with hiring and then sacking managers.

Over the last four seasons, the Rangers have had four managers and an interim head coach. It is safe to say that there has not been much stability in the dugout.

That has to do with Celtic continuously winning. No Rangers manager has been able to stop the Hoops and sooner or later, they have been shown the exit door.

So, it would be a major risk for Ancelotti to take up that as his first job in management. One would imagine that he would have a lot less pressure at a club like Deportivo de la Coruna and time to find his feet. Of course, the Rangers one would be bigger, but is it the right step for him at this point?
