Celtic will be looking to keep the core of their squad together beyond this summer transfer window. Of course, that is easier said than done. When big clubs come calling, rarely do players end up staying on at Parkhead. We have seen that pretty much every year. And there is little reason to think that this one will be any different.
Interestingly, a blockbuster transfer bid from Manchester United could have a knock-on effect on Celtic. At least that is what reports coming out of the media will have you believe.
As reported by Sky Sports, Manchester United have made an improved £60m bid for Bryan Mbeumo. Brentford are believed to be willing to listen to offers this summer.
Some reports in England have claimed that Nicolas Kuhn is Brentford's top target in the scenario that Mbeumo leaves. Of course, the German winger has already been heavily linked with a return to RB Leipzig.
Manchester United make blockbuster bid in bad news for Celtic
Manchester United's potential signing of Mbeumo could have an effect on Daizen Maeda's future as well. That is because Tottenham Hotspur have also held talks with Brentford to sign the 25-year-old.
Tottenham Hotspur recently replaced Ange Postecoglou with former Brentford boss, Thomas Frank. And if they are unable to sign Mbeumo, they might turn their attention towards Maeda, who is also rumoured to be on the radar of the London club.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Celtic and some of their key players. It would not come as a surprise if one or more of them ends up leaving this summer.
As of now, they are Celtic players and the focus has to be on strengthening the squad. After that, the club can adjust their strategy depending on how this transfer window unfolds.
