Manchester United are coming off their worst season in recent memory. The club finished the Premier League season in 15th, that too on goal difference, and lost the Europa League final against 17th-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Following the end of the campaign, they made an announcement that could be superb news for Celtic though.

Celtic have been linked with a few Manchester United players in recent times. And they are going to be available as free agents this summer.

As reported by Manchester United's official website, the club have announced that Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Christian Eriksen will depart at the end of the season. The news was confirmed following their final game of the season, against Aston Villa.

Celtic have been linked with both Eriksen and Evans. On the other hand, Lindelof could be an interesting option for the Hoops as well, as they need an option in the heart of defence to partner with Cameron Carter-Vickers. Neither Auston Trusty nor Liam Scales has been able to convince.

Eriksen has been linked with a move to Celtic since the winter. While a move did not materialise back then, it has now become easier as he is set to become a free agent.

On the other hand, Evans is someone who has worked extensively with Brendan Rodgers during their time together at Leicester City. Could a reunion take place at Celtic? The club have been pretty open to signing Premier League veterans as free agents.

Finally, Lindelof is someone who would fit Celtic's needs at this point in time as well. At 30 years of age, he should have a decent bit of football left in the tank and in many ways, he would be a statement signing for the Hoops, if it is possible in the first place.
