Celtic booked their place in the final of the Scottish Cup with a win over St Johnstone. They are also just a point away from securing the league title. So, another treble is very much on the cards for Brendan Rodgers' team. After that, the focus will shift towards the summer transfer window and finding ways to improve the squad further.
There have been signs in the second half of this season that the Celtic squad has become a bit stagnant. That is understandable considering the success some of these players have enjoyed at Parkhead. So, it would not be a bad idea to bring in a few fresh faces and shake things up a bit.
Naturally, we have seen a long list of players being linked with potential moves to Celtic in the summer. But as it turns out, Manchester City are trying to sign one of them as well. That is not good news for the Hoops.
As reported by TBR Football, Manchester City are in talks with Jesse Derry after he decided not to sign a new contract at Crystal Palace. Celtic have been in contact as well.
Manchester City transfer news will worry Celtic and hurt their chances of signing Jesse Derry
Derry is a winger who currently plays for Crystal Palace. He has been an absolute standout for the Eagles at the developmental level and has represented England youth international teams as well. So, it is not hard to understand why he is drawing so much interest before his contract runs out.
Celtic and Manchester City are not the only clubs looking to sign either. The likes of Aston Villa, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, PSG, Monaco, Porto, Atletico Madrid, Rangers and Juventus are in the race as well.
That just goes on to show how highly Derry is rated. If Celtic are able to sign him, it would have to be considered as a major coup.
