Celtic put in a five-star display at Hampden Park this weekend to book their place in the final of the Scottish Cup, and put themselves on the verge of another treble, which would be their sixth one in nine seasons. The Hoops won 5-0 thanks to a brace from Daizen Maeda alongside goals from Callum McGregor, Adam Idah and Jota.
Celtic had lost against St Johnstone away in Perth just a couple of weeks ago. That result seems to have served as a wake-up call for this team though. They won 5-1 against Kilmarnock before this performance at Hampden Park.
Now, they need one more point to win the league title. Their next game is at Tannadice Park against Dundee United. And the final of the Scottish Cup final will be against Jimmy Thelin's Aberdeen side.
Naturally, everybody must be delighted with how things have gone. At an individual level, what transpired at Hampden Park might be worrying for some in the squad though. One of them has to be Auston Trusty.
One Celtic player must be worried after semi-final win
Trusty started in that defeat away at Perth. For the most part, he has been the starter for Celtic this season. But now, there are indications that he has slipped down Brendan Rodgers' pecking order.
He was left out of the starting XI in the following game against Kilmarnock. But even more importantly, he was unused substitute against St Johnstone at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup semi-final. Liam Scales played in both games.
Not only that, Scales actually was one of Celtic's best players on the pitch against St Johnstone. It is very possible that he has now back his place in the starting XI. Do not be surprised to see him starting at Tannadice Park and Ibrox in the near future.
