This is going to be a very interesting summer transfer window for Celtic as they need to find a way to keep hold of their best players while also adding enough quality to the squad to not only make the Champions League but also impress in Europe's top competition. With this being the final year on Brendan Rodgers' contract, the Hoops need to convince him that this is the way to be.

The transfer window is always a game of dominoes. Moves that have nothing to do with Celtic could end up having an impact on them.

And it looks like that might be set to happen when it comes to Arne Engels. The Belgian midfielder joined Celtic last summer and had a decent debut season. Now, he has been linked with a move to Atalanta.

On the other hand, as reported by TuttoAtalanta, Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Barcelona have already started preliminary contacts for Ederson. The player, despite never having publicly expressed his desire to leave, does not seem to be willing to renew his contract expiring in 2026.

Ederson looks set to leave Atalanta this summer. And if he does, the Italian club might try to sign Engels as his replacement.

Having spent just one year at Celtic, the fans will want to see Engels remain at the club for longer, even though he was not completely convincing in his debut season. That being said, if the right offer arrives on their table, it is pretty likely that he could be on his way out. That is the Hoops' transfer policy.

Let's see what the future holds for Engels at Celtic and Ederson at Atalanta. Whatever it turns out to be, one can only hope that the Hoops come out stronger.
