Celtic do not need to sign a lot of players in January. Brendan Rodgers' side are already flying high and have tasted defeat just once so far this season, against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League away at Signal Iduna Park. But that does not mean that if a good opportunity comes knocking, the Hoops should not respond.

Recently, they have been linked with a move for Carney Chukwuemeka. The Chelsea youngster has shown flashes of brilliance in the past.

But it is quite clear that he does not fit into Enzo Maresca's plans. And it is not hard to understand why considering there are players like Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix ahead of him in the pecking order.

With Chukwuemeka not getting playing time right now, a move away would make a ton of sense for all parties involved, whether on loan or on a permanent basis. Could Celtic Park be his next destination?

Major update on Chelsea's Carney Chukwuemeka to Celtic

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic could look to sign Chukwuemeka from Chelsea in the January transfer window. Any deal for the 21-year-old would require the Blues to contribute to his wages.

Chukwuemeka is a fantastic talent for sure and one who has already shown that he contribute at the Premier League level if given the proper chance. Unfortunately for him, things are clicking for Chelsea right now and so, it would be difficult for any youngster to get a ton of playing time ahead of the top quality players capable of playing in his position.

Chelsea have signed a ton of highly-rated youngsters in recent years. It has worked out for some. Palmer has become a global superstar in the space of a year. But then, there are those who are not getting the same recognition or opportunities. That does not mean that they could not succeed somewhere else.
