Celtic have been linked with a variety of strikers in recent weeks, as it looks like the Hoops are aiming to add an option up front. Adam Idah and Daizen Maeda scored a combined 53 goals over the 24/25 campaign. But the club do need a third centre-forward as things could get tight if there is an injury. Who will that be?
There has been speculation about a Kyogo return, as it looks like his time at Rennes will come to an end soon. On the other hand, Mathias Kvistgaarden continues to be linked with Celtic for the third-straight summer.
Another player that Celtic had been linked with is Youssef El Kachati. The striker inspired Telstar to Eredivisie promotion before becoming a free agent. Unfortunately for the Hoops, it looks like he is headed elsewhere.
As reported by ESPN, Youssef El Kachati will remain in the Netherlands. The 25-year-old has reached a verbal agreement with NEC and will sign a three-year contract with the Dutch club.
Major transfer news for Celtic as verbal agreement reached
Celtic's interest in El Kachati would not have come as a surprise as he enjoyed an excellent 24/25 season, albeit in the second division of Dutch football with Telstar. The Moroccan striker scored 25 goals in total to help his team to promotion.
Now that El Kachati seems to be off the list of potential signings for Celtic, that does narrow down the options a bit more. The 25-year-old could have been a solid signing but his arrival would not have been make-or-break for the Hoops.
Ultimately, one can only hope that an addition is made by Celtic at striker. They do need another out-and-out goalscorer, ideally someone who can step up in the big games. Of course, finding that profile is not an easy task, especially under the budget constraints the Hoops have to work.
